One in five women can expect to develop clinical depression during their lifetime. Regardless of age, race, or income - clinical depression can occur in any woman at any time of their life. For many people depression is characterized by sadness and withdrawal, but can also cause anxiety, irritability, fatigue and changes in eating and sleeping habits. Depressed persons can also experience physical symptoms affecting their overall general health. The good news is that clinical depression is very treatable. Hepatitis C
http://www.cpmc.org/advanced/liver/
Often referred to as the silent epidemic, hepatitis C is one of the two leading causes of chronic liver disease in the United States, affecting approximately 4 million or 1.8% of the population. “Although the incidence of hepatitis C has declined in the past 10 years, we are seeing new cases of chronically infected patients who acquired the disease years or even decades ago. For this reason, we expect the impact of hepatitis C infection to grow for many years to come,” says Robert Gish, MD, medical director of California Pacific Medical Center’s Liver Disease Management and Transplant Program.
California Pacific’s Liver Program sees more than 3,600 patients annually in San Francisco and at more than 20 outreach clinics throughout Northern California and Nevada. Read more about hepatitis C and our liver program.

Adult Day Services Program
Celebrating our Second Anniversary
http://www.cpmc.org/services/senior/
Irene Swindells Center for Adult Day Services was developed collaboratively by California Pacific and the Institute on Aging (IOA), designed to serve individuals with mild to moderate memory loss that do not possess additional significant health care needs. Opening our doors in early 2002, we continue to be the only San Francisco social-model adult day program in a medical center. Our goal is to provide a structured program of activities in a supportive club-like environment designed to create individual successes.
Ongoing care for Alzheimer’s patients is available at the Swindells Alzheimer's Residential Care Program. This program provides specialized care for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia in a secure, nurturing environment. The Swindells Residential Program is built upon recognizing the unique personalities and needs of each individual. Although Alzheimer's disease takes its toll, our residents are embraced for their strengths and abilities.
