For many parents, the image of their baby playing on the beach on a warm, sunny day is a pleasant one. Unfortunately, exposing skin to the sun from birth to age 20 is probably the single biggest risk factor for developing skin cancer.

Skin cancer is the fastest-growing type of cancer. Current estimates show that about one in every 100 children may eventually develop a "melanoma," which can be the most deadly form of skin cancer. These cancers are often irregularly shaped and colored, and can spread quickly. Read more...

Natasha Beilin, M.D., FAAFP, is a pediatrician at the Fremont Center. She received her M.D. degree from St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical Academy in Russia in 1997. Dr. Beilin completed a residency at State University of New York's Downstate Medical Center. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Medical Association. Dr. Beilin is board certified in pediatrics and speaks fluent Russian.

William E. Straw, M.D., is a family practice physician at the Los Altos Center. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1973. He completed a residency and internship at the Riverside General Hospital University Medical Center. Dr. Straw serves as the team physician for St. Francis High School in Mountain View and is board certified in family practice.
