Halloween can be an exciting time for all those ghosts and goblins out there -- both children and adults. Wearing outrageous costumes, trying your hand at trick-or-treating and transforming pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns are a few of the activities that make Halloween such a popular holiday.

Most parents are careful about taking their children to neighborhoods they know for trick-or-treating, and examining the candy before their children eat it. But there are other, less-obvious tips that can keep children safe and healthy on Halloween. Following are a few of these tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics...

Nathalie M. Lynch, M.D., is a pediatrician at the Redwood City Center. She received her M.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1999. She completed a residency at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Lynch is board certified in pediatrics and speaks medical French and basic Spanish.

Thuan P. Duong, M.D., is a family medicine physician at the Fremont Center. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Colorado, Denver in 1980. He completed an internship at Highland General Hospital in Oakland and a residency at San Jose Medical Center. Dr. Duong is board certified in family medicine.
