Dr. Ben Maser Follows Father’s Footsteps to PAMF
Ben Maser, M.D., developed his passion for plastic surgery as a young child by watching his father, one of the first plastic surgeons at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF). Richard Maser, M.D., came to the clinic in 1966. Dr. Ben Maser joined the clinic in 1999 and continues to work alongside his father in the Cosmetic Surgery Department.

“I remember watching and admiring my father as he went about his work,” Dr. Maser recalls. “I thought what he did was better than anything else in the world.”

Dr. Maser and his father frequently discuss the evolution of plastic surgery over the years, as well as the introduction of cosmetic surgery as a large part of this practice.

Dermal Fillers Increase in Popularity
Just a few years ago, collagen was considered a revolutionary way to add volume to lips and fill creases in the lower portion of the face. Now this product is losing popularity as new products offer better, longer-lasting results.

Among the more popular collagen replacements used by the Palo Alto Medical Foundation’s (PAMF) Cosmetic Surgery Department are Restylane® and the newly FDA-approved Radiesse™.

“There are some great dermal fillers available on the market today,” says Sandra Ewers, M.S., PA-C. “These products are typically used in the lower half of the face, to help fill in the lines or folds that extend from the side of the mouth or nose down to the chin. They are also great for filling in and plumping up lips.”

Featured Service: Nose Reshaping
If you have always felt that your nose doesn't "fit" with your other features or are unhappy with its appearance because of birth defects, injury or illness, nose reshaping (rhinoplasty) may offer you some peace of mind.

PAMF's cosmetic surgeons are experienced in performing rhinoplasty to achieve an attractive nasal shape for each individual. Whether you would like your nose to be in better proportion to other facial features or would like smaller nostrils, you can schedule a complementary consultation to have your questions answered and learn about your treatment options.
