National Poison Prevention Week: March 18-24

More than 2 million poisonings are reported each year to the 61 poison control centers across the country. More than 90 percent of these poisonings occur in the home. The majority of non-fatal poisonings occur in children younger than six years old. Poisonings are also one of the leading causes of death among adults. Featured Physicians

Suszanne Bernat, M.D., is a pediatrician at PAMF's Palo Alto Clinic. Dr. Bernat received her M.D. degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2001 after graduating from Princeton University. She completed an internship and residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She is board certified in pediatrics and speaks medical Spanish.

Sherry Huang, M.D., is a family medicine physician at PAMF's Palo Alto Clinic. Dr. Huang received her M.D. degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2000 after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed an internship and residency at Tufts University School of Medicine. She is board certified in family medicine, and speaks fluent Taiwanese and medical Mandarin and Spanish.
